No. of Animals recorded/estimated (List):
A total of 26 species of corals were recorded, out of which 8 were soft corals. Out of which, M. foliosa, Montipora monasteriata, M. explanata, Goniopora planulata, G. minor, Porites lutea, P. compressa, Favia speciosa, F. favus, Favites flexuosa, Favites complanata, F. complanata and Turbinaria peltata were recorded. The soft corals recorded here were Lobophyton sp., Sinularia sp. and Echinogorgia sp. Among the marine invertebrates, 18 species of sponges, 2 species of hydrozoans, 1 species bryozoans, 3 species of sea anemones, 1 species of jelly fish, 3 species of zoantharians, 4 species of prawn, 2 species of flatworms, 4 species of tube worms, 2 species of shrimp, 9 species of crabs, 2 species of barnacles, 1 species of lobster, 73 species of gastropods, 31 species of bivalve, 1 species of cephalopods, 2 species of nudibranchs and 3 species of were recorded. Supports 28 species of avifauna in this island.
Chank Island

The dominating mangrove species on the island are Avicennia marina, Ceriops tagal aand Rhizophora mucronata. A total of 67 species were recorded. 19 green algae, 19 species of red algae, 28 species of brown algae and 1 species of sea grasses. The common green algae were Bryopsis indica, Caulerpa racemosa, C. taxiformis, Codium dwarkense, Halimeda macroloba, H, tuna, Ulva lactuca, E. tabulosa and Enteromorpha intestinalis. The commonly recorded red algae were Actinotrichia fragilis, Dictyota dictyopteris, Dictyopteris dichostomota, Padina gymnospora, P. tetrastomatica, S. johnstonii and Sargassum polycystum. Among the brown algae, the common species were Amphiroa crassa, Amphiroa crassa, Champia indica, Gelidiella acerosa, Chonadria ornate, Gracellaria corticata, Grascillaria verrucosa, G. corticota, Halymenia verusota, Haliminthocladia clayadosii, Hypnea cervicornis and Rhodymenia australis were recorded.
