No. of Animals recorded/estimated (List):
A total of 31 species of corals were recorded, among them 27 species of hard corals and 4 were soft corals. Commonly occuring hard coral species were M. foliosa, M. explanata, Goniopora planulata, G. minor, Porites lutea, P. compressa, P.solida, Favia speciosa, F. favus, Favites flexuosa, Favites complanata, F. complanata and Turbinaria crates. The soft corals recorded here were Lobophyton sp., Sinularia sp. and Echinogorgia sp. Among the marine invertebrates, 19 species of sponges, 2 species of hydrozoans, 4 species of sea anemones, 2 species of jelly fish, 7 species of zoantharians, 7 species of prawn, 3 species of flatworms, 4 species of tube worms, 4 species of shrimp, 21 species of crabs, 2 species of barnacles, 1 species of lobster, 86 species of gastropods, 35 species of bivalve, 4 species of cephalopods, 2 species of nudibranchs and 3 species of echinoderms, 1 species of ascidian and 2 species of urochordata were recorded. A total of 98 species were recorded. 35 green algae, 25 species of red algae, 35 species of brown algae and 3 species of sea grasses. The common green algae were Boodlea composite, Caulerpa racemosa, C. taxiformis, C. crassifolia, C. scalpelliformis, C. verticellata, Chaetomorpha indica, Codium dwarkense, C. dwarkense, Halimeda macroloba, M. macroloba, H. opunita, H, tuna, Ulva fasciata, Ulva lactuca, E. tabulosa E. clathrata and Enteromorpha intestinalis. The commonly recorded red algae were Actinotrichia fragilis, Dictyota dictyopteris, D. divericata, Dictyopteris australis, Lyengaria stellata, Padina gymnospora, P. tetrastomatica, S. bulbosa, S. johnstoni, Fauchea peltata, Turbinaria ornata and Sargassum polycystum. Among the brown algae, the common species were Amphiroa crassa, A. fragilissima, Acanthophorea delilei, Champia indica, Gelidiella acerosa, Chonadria ornate, Desmia hornmanni, Gracellaria corticata, Grascillaria verrucosa, G. corticota, Halymenia verusota, Haliminthocladia clayadosii, Hypnea cervicornis, Rhodymenia australis, Scinaia indiaca and Soleridia robusta were recorded. The sea grasses species were Cymodocea serulata, Halophila ovalis and Thalassia sp. The dominating mangrove species on the island are Avicennia marina, Ceriops tagal aand Rhizophora mucronata.

Threats to the Island:
The island is about 16 nautical miles away from the coast. The major part of the island is intertidal mudflats which remains submerged in the tidal water. Only a small portion in the west has sandy beach.
