26 green algae, 16 red and 29 brown algae. The common green algae were Bryopsis indica, Caulerpa racemosa, C. taxiformis, C. crassifolia, Chaetomorpha indiaca, Codium dwarkense, Halimeda macroloba, H, tuna, Ulva lactuca and Enteromorpha intestinalis. The commonly recorded red algae were Actinotrichia fragilis, Dictyota altromaria, Lyengaria stellata, Padina gymnospora and Sargassum polycystum. Among the brown algae, the common species were Acanthaophora delilei, Amphiroa crassa, Champia indica, Gelidiella acerosa, Gracellaria corticata, Halymenia verusota and Hypnea cervicornis were recorded. A total of 29 species of corals were recorded; among them 7 were soft corals. Commonly occuring hard coral species were M. explanata, Goniopora planulata Porites lutea, P. compressa, Favia speciosa, F. favus, Favites flexuosa and Turbinaria crates. The soft corals recorded here were Clavularia sp., Dendronephthya sp., and Subergorgia sp. Among the marine invertebrates, 19 species of sponges, 2 species of hydrozoans, 2 species of bryozoans, 4 species of sea anemones, 3 species of jelly fish, 6 species of zoantharians, 1 species of prawn, 3 species of flatworms, 4 species of tube worms, 3 species of shrimp, 16 species of crabs, 5 species of barnacles, 1 species of lobster, 89 species of gastropods, 42 species of bivalve, 4 species of cephalopods, 2 species of nudibranchs, 4 species of echinoderms and 1 species of urochordata were recorded.
Azad Island

A total of 47 species were recorded here, which are belongs to 29 families and 44 genera. Island is sparsely covered with Prosopis chilensi, Euphorbia nivulia, Commiphora wightii, Grewia tenax, Salvadora persica, Capparis deciduas and Acacia nilotica. Tree species like Bauhihina Sp., Acacia nilotica, Acacia Senegal, Prosopis cineraria, Salvadora Oleoides and Cordia gharaf. Scrub species like Cadaba fruticosa, Capparis deciduas, Maerua oblongifolia, Grewia tenax, Maytenus emarginata and Zizyphus nummmularia. Sarcostemma acidium recorded to occur rarely. Other species like Leptodenia pyrotechnica, Clerodendrum multiforum, Grewia villosa, Crotolaria burhia and Lycium barburum were not so commonly recorded. In the herbaceous cover, commonly occurring species were Cleome viscose, Polygala erioptera, Polycarpaea spicata, Corchorus depressus, Alysiccarpus sp., Indigofera cordifolia and Boerhavia sp.

Threats to the Island:
This island is rich with bauxite and bauxite ore is excavated in large chunks from this island in the past. It was also used as a fish-landing site. Grazing and cutting of vegetation were also practiced in the past. People visit this island to visit the temple. Fishing is also practiced on and around the reefs on this island.
Any other pertinent information:
This island is inhabited by twelve persons at present. Rest of the families have settled to Okha and other towns.
