No. of Animals recorded/estimated (List):
A total of 13 species of corals were recorded, out of which 3 were soft corals. The commonly occurred hard corals were Goniopora planulata, Porites lutea, P. compressa, P. solida, Favia specicosa and Favites flexuosa. The commonly occurred soft corals were Subergorgia sp. and Echinogorgia sp. Among the marine invertebrates, 14 species of sponges, 2 species of hydrozoans, 1 species of jelly fish, 7 species of zoantharians, 2 species of flatworms, 1 species of shrimp, 9 species of crabs, 3 species of prawns, 3 species of barnacles, 70 species of gastropods, 14 species of bivalve, 2 species of nudibranch, 1 species of echinoderms, 1 species of ascidian and 2 species of urochordata were recorded.
Shanmiyani Island
No. of Plants/macroalgae recorded/estimated (List):
Salvadora percisa and Maerua oblongifolia species were dominant here. Prosopis juliflora was also recorded in very less numbers. 9 green algae, 10 red algae and 16 brown algae. The common green algae were Caulerpa racemosa, C. taxiformis, C. crassifolia, Ulva faciata and Enteromorpha intestinalis. The commonly recorded red algae were Actinotrichia fragilis, Dictyota altromaria, D. ciliiolata, padina gymnospora, Sargassum bulbosa, S. tenerrimum and Spathoglossum variabile. Among the brown algae, the common species were Acanthophora delilei, A. spicifera, Amphiroa crassa, Champia indica, Chondrina ornate, Gracillaria corticata, Halymenia floresia and Scinaia indica.

Threats to the Island:
The threats to the ecosystem are due to natural factors such as erosion rate and strong wave action. Other impacts due to pollution and human interference remain the same as in the nearby Okha port.
