18 green algae, 17 red and 6 brown algae and one seagrass species were recorded. The common green algae were Caulerpa racemosa, C. taxiformis, Chaetomorpha indica, Codium dwarkense, Halimeda macroloba, H, tuna, Ulva lactuca and Enteromorpha intestinalis. The commonly recorded red algae were Actinotrichia fragilis, Dictyota altromaria, Ectocarpus sp., Padina gymnospora and Sargassum polycystum. Among the brown algae, the common species were Acanthophora delilei, Coelarthum opuntio, Gracellaria corticata, Halymenia verusota and Hypnea cervicornis were recorded. The only sea grass species recorded here is Thalassia sp. A total of 18 species of corals were recorded, among them 4 were soft corals. Commonly occuring hard coral species were Montipora monasteriata, M. explanata, Porites lutea, P. compressa, Favia speciosa, F. favus, Favites flexuosa and Turbinaria crates. The soft corals recorded here were Lobophyton sp. and Echinogorgia sp. Among the marine invertebrates, 17 species of sponges, 1 species of hydrozoans, 1 species of bryozoans, 3 species of sea anemones, 1 species of jelly fish, 3 species of zoantharians, 1 species of prawn, 2 species of flatworms, 2 species of tube worms, 1 species of shrimp, 12 species of crabs, 3 species of barnacles, 1 species of lobster, 80 species of gastropods, 34 species of bivalve, 1 species of cephalopods, 2 species of nudibranchs, 2 species of echinoderms and 1 species of ascidian and 2 species of urochordata were recorded. Supports verity of reef fishes and supports 24 species of avifauna.
Khara Mitha Chusna Island
No. of Plants/macroalgae recorded/estimated (List):
The dominating mangrove species on the island are Avicennia marina, Ceriops tagal aand Rhizophora mucronata. A total of 26 species of belonging to 3 genera and 3 families were recorded. Among the scrub vegetation, Maerua oblongifolia and Asparagus racemosa were the common species. The saline land species Cressa critica, Salicornia sp. and Suaeda futicosa were recorded commonly here. The species like Grewia tenax, Commiphora wightii and Premna sp. were recorded here. On the fallow land, Cadaba fruticosa and Cleome sp. were recorded.

Increasing number of ships, oil tankers, trawlers etc. passing from nearby area of reef.

The oldest mangrove trees have been recorded on this island.
